The limited-edition Pea Protein Chai Spices Flavour is delicious on its own with water or milk but it also makes for brilliant festive recipes. This Chai Spice and Pear Crumble is the perfect apple crumble alternative and, as it’s made with oats instead of flour, it’s packed with fibre.

Whether you have it after your Sunday dinner as a tasty and warming dessert or as a post-workout treat, we just know you’ll love this recipe and want to make it time and time again.

Pear and Chia Spice Crumble Ingredients

1 scoop Pea Protein Chai Spices Flavour

200g gluten free rolled oats

2tbsp quinoa flour /or buckwheat

2 flax eggs (30g flaxseed meal + 10tbsp hot water)

1 cup cashew milk

3 medium pears

1tsp cinnamon, 1tsp vanilla extract, ½ tsp ground cloves, ½ tsp nutmeg

1tsp apple cider vinegar

3tbsp maple syrup

Toppings (optional)

Vegan vanilla custard (we used vanilla custard powder with vegan cashew milk)

Pear and Chia Spice Crumble Ingredients

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°
  2. Chop the pears into small cubes and spice with cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and nutmeg. Cook the pears in a pan on the hob until soft, for about 10 minutes.
  3. Add half of the pear into a greased baking pan. Pour oats on the top of the pear cubes and mix together.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix the chai spices protein, baking powder and quinoa flour together and pour it into the oat blend mixture.
  5. Stir maple syrup into flax eggs and add to the oat mixture, mix well.
  6. Pour cashew milk on the top of the cake batter and mix until well combined.
  7. Place the remaining pear on top of the oats and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Leave to cool a little then run a knife round the edge of the cake tin and cut into slices.
  9. Serve with the vegan vanilla custard. Enjoy!
